We work very hard at Harrop Fold to make the transition from primary to high school as enjoyable as possible; we do a road show in September to all Year 6 primary schools where we talk about our school and show a video of those who have just started (see left). This often reduces common fears and apprehensions about life at high school and Year 6 students enjoying seeing and hearing from students they know.
This is followed up with meetings between the Director in charge of Transition and individual Year 6 class teachers where we discuss friendship groups and any valuable information which might assist a smooth transition.
All students who have gained a place at Harrop Fold have two days in school in July where they meet their teachers, sample lessons, join their new forms and receive information about uniform suppliers and day to day procedures at our school.
Prior to this there are transition activities, often in Year 5 as well as taking part in the annual Choir of the Year Festival.
Parents are welcome to arrange tours of the school during the working day and to attend our annual Open Evening in October each year.
Please feel free to contact school on 0161 790 5022 or email firstname.lastname@example.org should you need any further information.
